What this site is, and what it is not
TRAVELHIFI is a travel publication. We report airline news, verify and publish flight and hotel deals, write destination guides, review gear, and track visa rules and safety advisories. What we are not is just as important. We are not a travel agency, and we do not sell tickets or rooms. We are not a law firm, and our visa coverage is journalism, not immigration advice for your specific passport and circumstances. We are not a government, and our safety coverage reports what the issuing authorities say rather than replacing them. Every booking you make happens on someone else’s site, under their terms, between you and them.
Travel information expires, and faster than you think
The defining fact of this niche is that information about travel decays. A fare can die within hours of publication. An airline can change its baggage policy overnight. A country can add an entry requirement with a week’s notice, or drop one with none. We fight this decay the only honest way available: we verify before publishing, we date our checks, we mark expired deals as expired, and we update guides when rules change, as described in our fact-checking policy and corrections policy. But no publication can guarantee that a page is still current at the exact moment you read it.
So treat every price, schedule, entry rule and advisory on this site as a dated report, and confirm the current state with the primary source before you act:
- Fares and schedules: confirm on the airline’s own website or booking engine at the moment of booking. The price that matters is the one on the payment page.
- Visa and entry rules: confirm with the embassy, consulate or official immigration site of the country you are visiting, for your specific nationality and route. Airlines also apply their own document checks at the gate.
- Safety conditions: read the current advisory from your own government for the destination, dated today, not our summary of it dated last week.
- Hotel and transport details: confirm with the property or operator, especially anything involving accessibility, children, or pets, where the cost of a stale detail is highest.
Reporting, reviews and opinion
Three kinds of writing appear on this site, and we keep them distinct. Reporting states facts we have verified and attributes them to sources. Reviews and guides contain judgment: which bag is worth the money, which neighbourhood suits a first visit, which airline’s premium economy justifies the fare. That judgment is honestly held and grounded in the testing and research described in our editorial standards, but it is judgment, and your trip, your back and your budget may reasonably disagree with it. Where a piece is opinion or analysis, it is labelled, and it represents the view of the desk at the time of writing.
Links out, and material we did not make
We link heavily and deliberately: to the airlines and booking pages where deals live, to the embassy pages and government advisories our visa and safety coverage rests on, and to other publications when they did the work first. Once you leave travelhifi.com, you are on someone else’s site, under their content, their prices and their privacy practices, and we are responsible for none of the three. A link is a pointer to where we found something, not an endorsement of everything that domain will ever publish.
Advertising, sponsorship and affiliate links
The site is funded by advertising and affiliate commissions, and the funding is disclosed rather than disguised. Some links earn us a commission if you book or buy after clicking; the price you pay does not change, and the commission does not decide what we recommend. Sponsored content is labelled as sponsored at the top, and advertisers get no say in editorial coverage, as set out on the ownership and funding and advertise pages. Ads served by our partners are their statements, not ours.
Errors, liability, and where to write
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for loss arising from reliance on information on this site, including missed flights, refused boarding, denied entry, cancelled plans or money spent on a price that had changed. That is not us shrugging: it is the honest allocation of responsibility on a site that reports a fast-moving world, paired with a genuine commitment to fixing what we get wrong. If you find an error, an expired deal, or an out-of-date rule anywhere on this site, write to support@travelhifi.com with CORRECTION in the subject, and the corrections policy takes it from there.
