Terms of Service

What you are agreeing to

These are the terms under which TRAVELHIFI, published at travelhifi.com, is made available to you. By reading the site you accept them; if you do not accept them, the remedy is simple and immediate, which is to stop using the site. We have kept these terms as short and as human as the subject allows, because terms nobody reads are a formality, not an agreement. Where these terms and the law disagree, the law wins, and nothing here removes rights that consumer law gives you and does not allow you to waive.

The site is operated by the TRAVELHIFI editorial team. References to we, us and our mean that team. References to content mean everything published on the site: articles, guides, deal posts, reviews, photographs, graphics and the site’s design and code.

Our work, and the licence you get

The content on TRAVELHIFI is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights, held by us or by parties who have licensed material to us. You get a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to read the site, share links to it, and quote brief excerpts with attribution and a link. That licence covers normal reading and sharing. It does not cover republishing whole articles, mirroring the site, scraping it at scale, or using our work to build a competing product. The full rules for quoting and republishing, and how to ask for permission beyond them, are on the DMCA and copyright page.

Scraping, and machines reading us for training

Automated access that respects the site is tolerated: search engine crawlers observing robots directives, feed readers, accessibility tools. Automated access that does not respect the site is prohibited, and that includes bulk scraping of articles, harvesting deal data to republish elsewhere, hammering the servers at a rate no human reader could produce, and circumventing any technical measure we put in place. Except where a licence from us or an applicable law expressly permits it, you may not use the content of this site as training data for machine learning or artificial intelligence models. If you want a licence for text and data mining, ask at support@travelhifi.com.

What you send us

If you send us tips, corrections, photographs, or anything else, you keep your copyright, and you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, edit and publish that material in connection with the site. Send us only what is yours to send: material you created, or material you have the right to share. You are responsible for what you submit, and you agree not to send anything unlawful, defamatory, or infringing. We are under no obligation to publish anything sent to us, and confidential treatment applies only where we have expressly agreed to it in advance, so do not mail us trade secrets on spec.

Deals, prices and the nature of travel information

This section matters more on a travel site than on most. Fares, hotel rates, schedules, visa rules and safety conditions change constantly and without notice to us. A deal we publish is a report that a price existed when we checked it, not an offer to sell it to you, and not a promise it will still exist when you click. Your booking, when you make one, is a contract between you and the airline, hotel, agency or merchant concerned, on their terms, and we are not a party to it. Before you commit money or travel plans, verify the current price, rule or condition with the provider or the relevant government authority. The disclaimer expands on this, and it is part of these terms.

Links out, and material we embed

The site links out constantly: to airlines, booking engines, embassies, government advisories and other publications. Some of those links are affiliate links, as disclosed in our ownership and funding page. A link is a pointer, not an endorsement of everything at the destination, and we are not responsible for the content, pricing, or privacy practices of other sites. Embedded content, such as maps or videos, is served by the platform that hosts it under that platform’s terms.

No warranty

The site is provided as is and as available. We work hard on accuracy, and our fact-checking policy describes exactly how hard, but we cannot and do not warrant that the site is error-free, uninterrupted, or that any piece of information remains current at the moment you read it. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Liability, and indemnity

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses arising from your use of the site, and that includes missed flights, refused boarding, denied entry, costs of rebooking, or money spent in reliance on information that had changed by the time you acted on it. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to the maximum extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as liability for fraud. You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your breach of these terms, including material you submitted without the right to do so.

Losing access

We may suspend or block access to the site, in whole or in part, for anyone who abuses it: scraping in breach of these terms, attacking the infrastructure, or attempting fraud against us or our partners. We may also modify or discontinue any part of the site at any time. A publication is a living thing, and sections open and close as coverage evolves.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws applicable where the operator of the site is established, and disputes belong to the courts competent under those laws, except where mandatory consumer protection rules give you the right to rely on the law or courts of your own country of residence. Before anything reaches a court, write to us: most disputes with a publication are misunderstandings or errors, and we fix errors quickly, as the corrections policy shows.

Changes to these terms

We update these terms when the site or the law changes. The current version is always this page, and material changes will be flagged on the site rather than slipped in silently. Continued use after a change takes effect is acceptance of the revised terms. Questions about anything here go to support@travelhifi.com.
